St. Louis City Romps Austin FC 6-3

Almost a full month since City SC took the field which was on July 27th in a 4-0 loss against Club American in the League Cup tournament, the team returned to their winning ways with an easy 6-3 victory over Austin FC, Sunday Night as CityPark in downtown St. Louis.  Nicholas Gioacchini and Samuel Adeniran both scored twice, while Eduard Löwen had three assists. Tim Parker put City SC on the board first with his fourth goal of the season, using an assist from Löwen in the 22nd minute to give his team 1-0 lead. Then Nicholas Gioacchini increased to the lead 2-0 at the half when he scored in the second minute of stoppage time with another assist from Löwen. Gioacchini scored again 5 minutes into the second half to push the expansion club’s lead to 3-0.

Austin finally got on the board in the 61st on a penalty kick by Sebastián Driussi.  Samuel Adeniran scored in the 72nd minute for St. Louis City, scoring unassisted for a 4-1 lead. Austin decreased City SC’s lead within two in the 87th minute from a goal from Will Bruin but Tomás Ostrák scored in the 88th to put St. Louis City up 5-2. Austin’s Emiliano Rigoni scored his third goal this season to make it 5-3 during stoppage time but Samuel Adeniran capped the scoring with his sixth netter of the season, unassisted in the fifth minute of extra time to make it 6-3. City SC remains on top of the Western Conference with their victory and will be on the road against Orlando City on Saturday.
