Things started well for the St. Louis against Seattle, when Marcel Hartel converted a penalty kick in the 29th minute to put his team up 1-0, but the lead quickly evaporated, and the winless streak extended to 7 games after losing to the Sounders 4-1 Saturday Night. CITY SC had a good start in the first half and kept the Sounders on its heels at Lumen Field, which hasn’t been friendly, losing twice and never scoring a goal on their home turf before Saturday’s encounter. But four minutes later, Seattle’s Albert Rusnák scored a penalty kick to make it 1-1.

Obed Vargas broke the tie in the 61st minute with a left-footed drive that bounced off a defender and behind CITY SC goalkeeper Ben Lundt to make it 2-1. 20 minutes later in the match, Danny Musovski put the match away with a pass played in by Nouhou Tolo, turned and scored from the center of the area to make it 3-1. For Musovski, it was his fourth consecutive goal and sealed it for Seattle. They would add the 4th and final goal of the match during stoppage time from a corner kick from Nouhou, which was his second-ever MLS goal in 221 appearances in the league with the Sounders.

Seattle extends its unbeaten it four straight games including three wins, since losing to San Diego 3-0 on April 5 to move above the playoff line in the Western Conference while CITY SC is now 0-5-2 during the drought, which is the longest winless streak since last season when the club went nine matches without a victory from May 15 to July 3, 2024.

CITY SC plays Wednesday Night in a U.S. Open Cup first-round tournament against Union Omaha at Energizer Park. The U.S Open Cup single-elimination tournament began in 1914 as the National Challenge Cup.  While Union Omaha plays in the United Soccer League League-1, no team can look past a lower-league opponent. For CITY SC they hope to pull off a win to snap a losing streak, though it’s not in League play.
