The St. Louis Cardinals came back to beat the Washington Nationals 7-6 in extra innings. Nathan Church hit a game tying two-run home run (1) off of reliever Gus Varland to tie the game 5-5. Cardinals’ reliever Geore Soriano (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts.

In the top 10th, Thomas Saggese got an RBI double to score Masyn Winn to give the Cardinals a 6-5 lead. Yohel Pozo then grounded out to second, which moved Saggese to third. JJ Wetherholt got an RBI’s double to score Saggese making it 7-5 Cardinals.

Riley O’Brien pitched the bottom 10th with 2 strikeouts for his 3rd save. Jordan Walker also hit his 4th home run. The Cardinals are now 6-5 on the season. The Cardinals are now (3-0) in extra innings.

The rubber game is Wednesday afternoon at 3:05 pm ct. The pitchers are scheduled to be Michael McGreevy (0-1), 2.53 ERA, 10.2 innings, 9 strikeouts, 2 walks, and a whip of 0.84 vs Miles Mikolas (0-2), 14.46 ERA, 9.1 innings, 8 strikeouts, 4 walks, and a whip of 2.25.
