Chase Brown totaled 233 yards and Tommy DeVito returned from injury to pass for 252 yards and a touchdown and run for a touchdown to lead No. 24 Illinois to a 26-14 win over Minnesota, the Illini’s third straight win over a Big Ten West opponent.

Illinois (6-1, 3-1 Big Ten) clinched bowl eligibility for just the second time since 2015.

Continuing his outstanding season, Brown ran for 180 yards on 41 carries — his eighth-straight 100-yard rushing performance — and caught three receptions for 53 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown reception, to further legitimize a dark-horse Heisman Trophy candidacy.

He’s now over 1,000 yards rushing for a second straight year. He now has 13 100-yard games, second most at Illinois behind Robert Holcombe’s 16 from 1994-97.

But Brown and DeVito weren’t the only stars who shined for Illinois today: Isaiah Williams added nine receptions for 62 yards, Pat Bryant had seven receptions for 58 yards and Brian Hightower had three receptions for 55 receiving yards as well.

Overall, a strong season continues for the Illini, and it’ll culminate with a bowl game in 2023.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
