Hakeem Butler hauled in six receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown, and kicker Andre Szmyt notched a 54-yard field goal, as the St. Louis Battlehawks downed the San Antonio Brahmas 31-24 on Sunday afternoon.

Coming off a clutch performance last week, which included a game-winning field goal, Szmyt on tough field goal attempts to help St. Louis maintain their lead throughout the game. His field goals ranged from 44 to 54 yards.

After a sub-par Week 1 performance, St. Louis quarterback A.J. McCarron went 19-for-27 with 154 passing yards and a rushing touchdown. He also threw his sole passing touchdown on the day to Butler in the first quarter.

The defense, however, was plagued by personal foul penalties, missed assignments, and poor tackling. These factors helped keep the Brahmas within a field goal reach, until the offense put the game away for good.

The Battlehawks return home to the Dome At America’s Center next weekend. They will host the Memphis Showboats on Saturday, April 20 at 11:30 a.m. CT. ABC will carry the game broadcast.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
