It looked like CITY SC had broken a four-game losing streak after Marcel Hartel scored a goal in the 25th minute to put his team up 1-0 against the Western Conference leader, the Vancouver Whitecaps. But for a second time in two matches, a CITY goal was disallowed. This time, a VAR ruling had Conrad Wallem offside before the goal. Vancouver outshot CITY 15-8 but had seven shots blocked and managed to get just one shot through thanks to the brilliant performance by CITY goalkeeper Ben Lundt. Vancouver nearly took the lead in the 47th minute with a left-footed attempt from just outside the box by Pedro Vite but Lundt made the save to keep the game scoreless.
