City SC scored their second straight road win this time against the San Jose Earthquakes 3-1 Saturday night at PayPal Park in San Jose, California. Brendan McSorley, who made his first career start for the team, scored two goals and an assist for his team.  McSorley scored the first goal of the match when Chris Durkin crossed the ball into the box towards forward João Klauss. Klauss headed the ball to McSorley, who took a shot on the volley into the top middle of San Jose’s net, giving CITY the lead early. Then, in the 19th minute, McSorley got an assist when he headed the ball to Marcel Hartel, who took a second touch shot, doubling City’s lead 2-0.

San Jose pulled within 1 point when Cristian Arango converted from the penalty spot in the 31st to make it 2-1. But McSorley ended San Jose’s hopes when he headed the ball in the back of the net in the 45th minute to give his team a 3-1 lead. Goalie Roman Bürki made nine saves, ensuring City kept their lead throughout the match. With postseason out of reach, the team has only three games left. Saturday, City will play host to LAFC at Energizer Park. City will play at Austin on Oct. 4 and will finish the season Oct. 18 at home against Real Salt Lake.
