The Kansas City Royals have re-signed catcher Salvador Perez to a two-year contract extension, worth $25 million. Perez, 35, hit .236 with 54 runs, 141 hits, 35 doubles, 30 home runs, 100 RBI’s, and 28 walks in 2025. The doubles were a career high for Perez.

Perez has been an All-Star 9 times: (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2023, and 2024). In 2015, Perez helped the Royas win the World Series and won World Series MVP. Perez has won the Gold Glove Award 5 times: (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2018). Perez has also won the Silver Slugger Award 5 times: (2016, 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2024).

In 2020, Perez won AL Comeback Player of the Year. Perez won the Roberto Clemente Award in 2024.

Perez had his best season in 2021. That season, Perez hit .273 with 88 runs, 169 hits, 24 doubles, 48 home runs, 121 RBI’s, 1 stolen base, and 28 walks. The runs, hits, home runs, and RBI’s were all career highs for Perez. The home runs tied Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for the most in the MLB. The RBI’s led the MLB.

In 2013, Perez had a career high (3) triples.

Perez had a career high (44) walks in 2024.

Overall, Perez has played 14 MLB seasons. Perez has played 1,707 games with 710 runs, 1,712 hits, 320 doubles, 11 triples, 303 home runs, 1,016 RBI’s, 6 stolen bases, 271 walks, and a .264 batting average.
