The Cardinals beat the Astros 7-5 on Saturday night. Andre Pallante (2-1) pitched 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run (solo home run), 5 strikeouts, and 3 walks.

The Cardinals had three home runs from their offense Jose Fermin (1), Masyn Winn (1), and Alec Burleson (3). The home run by Fermin was the Cardinals first this season by a leftfielder.

Jordan Walker picked up his (3rd) stolen base.

Riley O’Brien picked up his 6th save.

The Cardinals are now 12-8.

The Cardinals and Astros will play game 3 on Sunday at 1:10 pm ct. The scheduled starters are Matthew Liberatore (0-1), 4.29 ERA, 21 innings, 12 strikeouts, 8 walks, and a whip of 1.57 vs Michael Burrows (1-3), 6.55 ERA, 22 innings, 18 strikeouts, 7 walks, and a whip of 1.82.

The Cardinals are the only remaining team that hasn’t lost when scoring first. The Cardinals are currently 8-0 when scoring first.

It’s great to see the Cardinals having some success in the early part of a rebuilding season.
