The Cardinals came back from to 2-0 deficit to beat the Pirates 4-2 on Monday night. It’s the Cardinals 10th comeback win on the season. The Cardinals also ended a four-game losing streak. Dustin May pitched 6 innings allowing 7 hits, 2 runs with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks. May threw his 3rd quality start. Overall, the Cardinals now have 8 quality starts.

In top 9th, Pedro Pages (3) hit a home run to make it a 2-1 Pirates. The next batter JJ Wetherholt (6) hit a home run to tie the game 2-2. The Cardinals then loaded the bases, and Jose Fermin hit a two-run RBI double giving them a 4-2 lead.

Ryan Fernandez (1-0) picked up the win pitching 2 innings with 4 strikeouts.

George Soriano picked up his 1st save.

The Cardinals are now 15-13.

Game 2 is Tuesday night at 5:40 pm. The scheduled starting pitchers are Kyle Leahy (2-3), 5.63 ERA, 24 innings, 15 strikeouts, 11 walks, and a whip of 1.67 vs Braxton Ashcraft (1-1), 2.43 ERA, 29.2 innings, 32 strikeouts, 9 walks, and a whip of 1.01.
