City SC got one of the rarest victories on the road Saturday night with a win when Jeong Sang-bin scored the only goal of the match to give his team a 1-0 victory. It was set up in the 24th minute when City SC’s goalie Roman Bürki fed the ball to Simon Becher, who sent the ball to midfield, where Jeong took it and kept the counter going when he moved side to side around Colorado keeper Nicolas Defreitas-Hansen and slipped his shot past a chasing Rapids defender. Colorado outshot City SC 11-10, received 11 corner kicks, and also possessed the ball for 58 percent of the game, but Roman Burki was brilliant, with two saves to claim the clean-sheet.
Colorado came out in the second half by attacking with energy and created chances. Things got pretty intense when Colorado’s Rob Holding was given a straight red card in the 51st minute after pulling down City SC’s forward Simon Becher on a breakaway. Later in the half, Chris Durkin picked up two yellow cards in quick succession, bringing City SC down to ten men. But the team held through and managed to take home all three points in this contest. With the victory, City SC snapped a 5-game winless streak and hopes to get back on winning ways. Their next match will be on Wednesday at home at 7:30 pm against LAFC.
