The Cardinals beat the Reds 8-1 in game 1 of the first game of a day/night doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Great American Ball Park. Andre Pallante (5-4) pitched 6 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run (1 home run) with 3 strikeouts, and 1 walk. Pallante picked up his (3rd) quality start. Overall, the Cardinals now have (19) quality starts.
Jordan Walker hit his (14th) home run and had 3 RBI’s (38).
Bryan Torres also hit a home run (1) and had 2 RBI’s (2). The home run by Torres was his 1st of his MLB career.
Alec Burleson (35), Ivan Herrera (25), and JJ Wetherholt (25) also had RBI’s.
Victor Scott II (7) and Herrera (2) both had stolen bases.
The Cardinals are now 29-21.
Game 2 is 6:15 pm on Saturday night.
The scheduled starting pitchers are Kyle Leahy (5-3), 3.94 ERA, 45.2 innings, 34 strikeouts, 20 walks, and a whip of 1.55 vs Chase Petty (0-0), 4.76 ERA, 5.2 innings, 1 strikeout, 2 walks, and a whip of 1.06.
