St. Louis City kicked off their west coast trip with a convincing 3-1 victory over the LA Galaxy Wednesday night are suddenly surge past them for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. There’s still 18 games left for City SC but after a very slow start the team have wheeled off 3 straight victories and are 6-6-4 for the season.

Lukas MacNaughton and Marcel Hartel scored four minutes apart late to take a 2-0 lead going into halftime. MacNaughton opened the scoring in the 42nd minute with a header to make it 1-0. Right before stoppage time Marcel Hartel zipped in a shot that froze and stunned goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski to make it 2-0 for St. Louis.

There were no love lost between the two teams has pushing and shoving as both teams received yellow cards. Galaxy midfielder Riqui Puig was sent off in the 49th minute with his second yellow card of the match.

With Puig going the Galaxy were forced to play 10 men on the field which St. Louis took full advantage. Simon Becker scored on the 68 minute to put his up 3-0. The Galaxy would score on the 86th minute when Troy Elgersma score to make it 3-1.

St. Louis outshot the Galaxy 14-10 and 10-3 overall. Their victory extended their unbeaten streak extended to 6 games and hope to extend it when they play the Colorado Saturday night at home against the Colorado Rapids at 7:30 pm at Energize stadium.
