The Red Sox are sending left-hander Eduardo Rivera to the Cardinals, reports Andrew Parker of SoxProspects.com.

In return, Boston, will receive right-hander Juan Garcia in return.

Garcia,18, had a 4.40 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 39/10 K/BB ratio in 43 innings in the Dominican Summer League this year.

Rivera, meanwhile, allowed seven runs over 10 innings during his brief time in the majors in 2026, and he posted a 2.96 ERA and 55:27 K:BB across 45.2 innings with Triple-A Worcester. Rivera will be competing for a spot in the Cardinals’ bullpen in 2027, one of the biggest issues the team had in 2026.

The 23-year old lefty, made his major league debut this season after being called up to face the Yankees. He impressed, tossing 3⅓ scoreless innings while allowing just one hit, walking none and striking out three.
