It was announced earlier this evening by AEW and Ring of Honor owner, Tony Khan that current Ring of Honor tag team champion, Jamin Pugh, also known as Jay Briscoe tragically passed away at the age of 38.
More details have emerged following the death Tuesday of popular Ring of Honor wrestler Jay Briscoe.
Police in Laurel, Delaware said Wednesday that Briscoe died in a head-on crash shortly after 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Police say that a Silverado 1500 driven by Lillyanne Ternahan crossed the centerline and collided with Briscoe’s Silverado 2500.
They said both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
Briscoe, whose real name is Jamin Pugh, was 38.
Police said his 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old daughter were in the truck with him. They say that the wrestler was not wearing a seatbelt, but that both girls were “properly restrained.”
News of Jay’s passing comes nearly one year after the Briscoe Brothers were inducted into the inaugural class of the Ring of Honor Hall of Fame. Having wrestled with the organization since their teenage years, Jay said at the time of the induction that he and his brother were “humbled” by the honor.
“All we ever wanted was big time fights,” he tweeted January 2022, “and we’ve been blessed to work for a company that provided us with that opportunity for 2 decades.”
We here at Interstate 70 Sports Media send our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Jamin at this time.
