The St. Louis have called First Baseman Luken Baker up to The Show. At the time of the call up, He was batting .313 for the Memphis Redbirds and was leading the AAA International league in home runs with 18 and RBI’s with 53. He will be joining the team today in Pittsburgh and will DH’ing against veteran Rich Hill. To make room for him, little used catcher Tres Barrera has been removed from the 40 man roster and has been placed on waivers. The 26 year old Baker is from Spring, Texas and attended Texas Christian University, alma mater of former Cardinal Matt Carpenter. The Cardinals selected him with the 75th overall selection of the 2018 MLB First Year Player Draft. Baker had an outstanding Spring Training for the big club, showing some real power, before being assigned to AAA Memphis. The Cardinals’ website currently lists him on the active roster. He has been assigned number 26.
