
St. Louis Defenders Anthony Markanich and Nökkvi Thórisson both scored their first goals in the of the match as the team hung on to a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas Wednesday Night at CityPark. FC Dallas goalie Maarten Paes drew a red card in just the 12th minute of the game and had to play the rest of the game with one player short. City SC took advantage when Anthony Markanich scored in just his second game with his new team on the 82nd minute to give his team a 1-0. Three minutes later Nokkvi Thorisson scored off a feed from Eduard Lowen and Joao Klauss. It was Thorisson first goal as a member of his team. Dallas’ Eugene Ansah scored very late to prevent his team from being shut out, but it was too little too late.
Dallas saw a six-match unbeaten streak in all competitions and a six-match winning streak against expansion teams come to an end. Earlier in the season Dallas beat St. Louis CITY 2-0 at home earlier this season. With City SC wins, the team at the moment increased their lead to seven lead defending champion Los Angeles FC and the Seattle Sounders atop the Western Conference standings and improved there to 10-3-1 at home and 10-0-0 when scoring multiple goals at home.
