It’s official: The XFL and USFL finalized their merger and will become the United Football League for the 2024 spring football season.
The UFL season begins on March 30, 2024, with the final champions from each league—the Arlington Renegades (XFL) and Birmingham Stallions (USFL)—meeting in the opener.
One of those teams is a familiar face… the St. Louis Battlehawks.
The 8 UFL teams and cities:
• Birmingham Stallions
• Houston Roughnecks
• Memphis Showboats
• Arlington Renegades
• D.C. Defenders
• San Antonio Brahmas
• St. Louis Battlehawks
The remaining teams in both leagues will be dissolved, and players on those teams will be entered into a draft.
Battlehawks are keeping head coach Anthony Becht, who led the squad in 2023. The season is slated to start March 30.
Attendance at Battlehawks games was overwhelming in 2023 in St. Louis, setting XFL attendance records throughout the season. On average, around 35,000 fans filled The Dome at America’s Center for home games, more than twice that of any other team.
