Don’t worry folks, Chris Jones isn’t going anywhere.

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ All-Pro defensive tackle has agreed to terms on a five-year deal worth nearly $160 million, which includes $95 million fully guaranteed, according to NFL Media. The deal makes Jones the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history.

Jones’ contract with the Chiefs runs through the 2028 season. 

Jones began the 2023 season in a contract holdout, missing the whole offseason, including training camp, preseason, and the team’s season opener, forfeiting more than $3 million during his missed time.

Jones was in the final year of his four-year, $80 million extension that he signed in 2020, and the prices of star DTs have increased since then. He later returned to the Chiefs after he signed a new one-year deal worth up to $25 million.

This season, Jones had 10.5 sacks and led the team with 14 tackles for loss while guiding a top-five NFL defense to back-to-back Super Bowl wins, and will now attempt to become the first team in NFL history to win three-straight Super Bowls.

Since joining the league in 2016, Jones has a career stat line of 75.5 sacks, 12 forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
