The Cardinals’ bullpen has usually been solid this season, but on Monday night, Houston had the last laugh. Alex Bregman and Yainer Diaz both homered in the eighth inning, helping the Houston Astros beat the Cardinals 7-4 on Monday night in Houston.

Nolan Gorman homered twice and Alec Burleson also went deep for the Cardinals, who lost for the third time in four games. They drop back to two games under .500 with the loss.

Meanwhile, Houston improves to 27-34 on the season.

Kyle Gibson, one of the more pleasant surprises for the Cardinals this season, struck out eight in 5 2/3 innings for St. Louis. He allowed three runs and five hits on the evening.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
