It looked like the CITY SC were on their way in pulling off a rare victory on the road and ending a five-game winless streak and their first victory since beating the Seattle Sounders on March 15th at Energize Stadium in St. Louis. Instead, LAFC Denis Bouanga scored in the 95th minute as the attacker scored to rescue a 2-2 draw at BMO Stadium. CITY SC opened the scoring in the 52nd minute with a goal from Cedric Teuchert, to put his team up 1-0, Teuchert second of the season. Twelve minutes later, Denis Bouanga tied the game in the 70th minute. The LA got a break when they were awarded a penalty kick, and Bouanga had a chance to put his team up, but CITY SC goalie Ben Lundt turned away his penalty to keep the game tied at 1-1.
CITY SC was forced to play a man down after Alfredo Morales committed his second foul on LA’s Jeremy Ebobisse in the 83rd minute to earn his second yellow card of the match and was dismissed from the game. CITY SC found themselves with 10 men, but the team showed their mental toughness, and in the 89th minute, managed to earn a free kick, which resulted in an own goal off an LAFC player to make it 2-1. CITY SC was on their way to beat LAFC for the first time ever. But in the 95th minute, Denis Bouanga picked up the ball on the left wing and simply bullied his way by Josh Yaro with a mix of strength and speed to score the tying goal at 2-2. The draw kept CITY SC winless after 6 games, and if they want to end it this weekend, they will have to travel the Northwest and try to defeat the Seattle Sounders, the team that they last won their game but never on the road in Seattle.
