St. Louis fans were reminded of the good old days of Professional Football, from the Cardiac Cardinals from 1960 to 1987, to the Greatest Show on Turf when the Rams played from 1995 to 2015, the Battlehawks put their passionate fans of 30,000 plus on the edge of their seats as the team held on to 29-28 victory over the USFL Conference leading and defending UFL Champions Birmingham Stallions. The lead changed 6 times during the game, and early in the first half, Birmingham jumped to a 9-0 lead following a quarterback J’Mar Smith’s 65-yard touchdown pass to Deon Cain on the game’s first play from scrimmage. Battlehawks quarterback Max Duggan kept his team in contention with his running ability, with two first-half rushing touchdowns to erase the early deficit and provide St. Louis a 13-12 halftime lead.

The Stallions took the lead in the 3rd quarter after wide receiver Deon Cain raced 50 yards touchdown catch for his second score, and a field goal gave Birmingham a 21-13 lead. Battlehawks running back Jacob Saylors, who finished the day with 118 yards rushing, completed the come-from-behind victory late in the 4th quarter when he ran up the middle and then scored the point after to give his team a 29-28 lead. Birmingham had one more chance to steal a victory, but with 28 seconds left, Linebacker Travis Freeney forced a fumble on Stallions running back C.J. Marable that was recovered by CB Myles Jones to secure the victory for the Battlehawks. St. Louis maintained its hold on first place in the XFL Conference and could be in the postseason for the second straight year, depending on the game between the Arlington Renegades vs. The DC Defenders. Should the Defenders win the Battlehawks clinch, but should the Renegades upset the Defenders on their home turf, then the Battlehawks must defeat the San Antonio Brahmas Friday Night at 7 pm at the Dome of America in St. Louis/

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
