EPISODE 4 OUT NOW

The St. Louis Cardinals are looking up at too many teams in the playoff race with less than a month to go to really have a shot at the postseason this year. Even with this being the third consecutive season the team will miss the playoffs, that does not necessarily mean the future is bleak for the Cardinals.

On this episode, Scott invited on two well-informed members of Cardinal Twitter to discuss this future. Tyler Gettinger (@RedbirdFarmhand) and Daniel Shoptaw (@C70) were perfect guests to have on to discuss what we currently see that can be seen as encouraging for the future of Cardinals baseball. While it’s commonplace to hear people talk about whose “stock” they would buy when talking about future stars, the three got to talk about how this seemingly theoretical stock is actually able to bought for certain players.

In a special segment, the trio got to talk to Rob Connolly, the CEO and co-founder of a company called Finlete. Rob discussed what Finlete is and how they work with two Cardinals top prospects in Leonardo Bernal and Yairo Padilla. The whole idea of the company is to provide financial resources to prospects as they try to reach the major leagues. The reward? Well, investors in these prospects receive a percentage of the players’ future MLB earnings! Rob was a lot of fun and shared some great information regarding this opportunity.

As the show continued, we stuck with the theme of the day and talked about who, if anyone, on the Cardinals roster that we would invest in. We talked about guys on the 40-man before looking at some prospects who may be a little further away. Finally, the episode finished with our thoughts on manager Oli Marmol and hitting coach Brant Brown. Between the comments on a recent KMOX interview and Marmol’s tenure as a whole, we debated if Oli could or should be the manager next year.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
