The St. Louis Cardinals have hired legendary catcher Yadier Molina as a special assistant to president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom. Molina, 43, will help mentor the Cardinals catchers. Molina will also work with the catchers in the Cardinals minor league system. Molina will help shape the catcher’s development curriculum.

As a player during a 19-year career (2004-2022), Molina won the Gold Glove Award 9 times: (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2018). Molina also won the Platinum Glove Award 4 times: (2011, 2012, 2014, and 2015).

Molina should be a great addition to help the Cardinals catchers. Molina has tons of knowledge, which should help the franchise in the long term.

It’s great to see Molina back home with the Cardinals.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
