In what has been a lingering battle with broadcasting rights has finally taken a major turn.

The Royals notified MLB on Monday morning that they will transfer their media rights to the league, rather than continue their relationship with Main Street Sports, the company that owns FanDuel Sports Kansas City, according to reporting from sports business reporter John Ourand at Puck.

Earlier reports that surfaced indicated Main Street Sports could file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and liquidate as soon as this week if they cannot find a buyer.

Main Street Sports Group, which operates the FanDuel networks, did not make its December payment to the St. Louis Cardinals, and thus, the Cardinals also terminated their deal with the network earlier in January.

It’s still up in the air where the Cardinals are going to air their games this year, so keep an eye out for the latest updates!

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
