The Battlehawks have played at the Dome at America’s Center since the beginning of the XFL/UFL in 2020.
Last year, St. Louis averaged 30,000 fans a game, more than twice the attendance of the next-highest team.
St. Louis consistently has the highest attendance in the league. But despite that, there is a proposal out there to move the team… not out of the city, just out of the stadium.
Mike Repole, a new co-owner of the league and head of its business operations, has been part of a plan to put UFL teams in smaller stadiums in an effort to build more excitement and avoid TV shots of games being played in mostly empty venues.
“Is it better to be fighting to be one of the 22,000 in (a smaller stadium) and building demand, and that place is sold out, and that place is going crazy, what’s a better atmosphere?” Repole said.
Battlehawks head coach Ricky Proehl has voiced opposition to the idea. “I understand from a business standpoint, what he wants to do, to create an atmosphere, where the stadium is full, it’s at capacity, but hey, why can’t we do that in the Dome?”
The Dome at America’s Center, known for football, concerts, and wrestling events, among other events, invested in new turf and lights in 2024, with the Battlehawks being one of the prime beneficiaries of the upgrades.
