Alton (IL)  The Alton River Dragons announce the return of catcher Sean McConachie and the addition of two-way college veteran Gabriel Watson.

 

Sean McConachie is currently wrapping up his second season at Frontier Community College before going to Eastern Illinois.  He is from Columbia, IL and attended St. John Vianney in Kirkwood, MO, where he also starred on the football team as a running back. Through 29 games this spring he is batting .267 with three homers and 23 RBI.  Last summer with the River Dragons he appeared in 11 games batting .354 with a homer, after joining the team for the second half.

 

Gabriel Watson is a junior from Eastern New Mexico where he is hitting .336 with eight homers through 31 games.  He is both an outfielder and pitcher, through after focusing entirely on pitching he has returned to       hitting.  A native of Hewitt, TX, Gabriel started at Amarillo Community College before moving onto Purdue University.  However, he didn’t see time at Purdue and moved onto Eastern New Mexico where he is starring this spring.  He has previously played summer ball with Swift Current of the Western Canadian League in 2023.  Has two older sisters, with one having played softball at Baylor.

 

The 2026 River Dragons season begins Tuesday May 26th at Quincy with the home opener slated for Tuesday June 2nd against Dubois County. The 2026 River Dragons will again be led by returning manager   Jarrod Brissenden.  In addition, for a second consecutive season, select games will be carried by 107.1FM WBGZ.

 

Also back for a fourth consecutive year, is the NCBA World Series, with both the Division I and Division II Tournaments taking place at Lloyd Hopkins Field starting in mid May.
