The Cardinals beat the Astros 7-5 on Sunday afternoon in extra innings and picked up their 1st sweep this season. Starting pitcher Matthew Liberatore threw 6 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks. The start is Liberatore’s 2nd quality start (overall the Cardinals 6th).
Maysn Winn gave the Cardinals a 7-4 lead with a bases loaded triple in the top 10th. Winn had 3 hits with 1 run and RBI’s (8).
JJ Wetherholt had a hit and 2 RBI’s (11).
Ryne Stanek (4), JoJo Romero (6), and Justin Bruihl (4th) all picked up holds.
Riley O’Brien (3-0) had his 1st blown save of the season. Gordon Graceffo picked up his 1st save.
The Cardinals are now 5-0 in extra innings and are on a 5-game winning streak. On the season the Cardinals improve to 13-8.
The Cardinals now head to Miami to play the Marlins in a three-game series (Monday-Wednesday).
