It’s time, Chiefs Kingdom.
It’s time for the return of the Cheetah. That being, wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
The Chiefs are coming off a win over the Las Vegas Raiders, who were 3-0 going into the divisional contest. This week, they are on a bye, and in Week 6, Kansas City will face the Los Angeles Chargers.
Kansas City is now the sole surviving undefeated team in the AFC, but it has come at a cost: admist the offensive line injuries already suffered by the team, wide receiver Tyquan Thornton suffered a gruesome season-ending ankle injury in Week 4. The injury only fueled speculation of a Hill-Chiefs reunion, and why wouldn’t people speculate? After all, Hill seems like a great fit for the Chiefs for several reasons. First, with Eric Bieniemy back as offensive coordinator, he would reunite with the coach who played a big role in making him an NFL star. Another is redemption… as Hill is coming off a massive knee injury of his own, it gives him a chance to show that he still can shine at 32-years old.
Finally, affordability. Hill is a free agent. He could sign a cheap deal, and the Chiefs wouldn’t have to give up any draft capital to acquire him.
But let’s just say that Hill returning to the Chiefs isn’t realistic. If so, then who should the team go after?
Because quarterback Patrick Mahomes needs more options as defenses focus more on trying to slow down Kenneth Walker III, right?
Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Odell Beckham Jr. is signing with the Minnesota Vikings. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport added the three-time Pro Bowler will be on the practice squad.
Drew Rosenhaus, Hill’s agent, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday he was planning to negotiate with teams about the veteran wideout that same day, but nothing has officially materialized.
Kristopher Knox named the first-place Cleveland Browns receiver Jerry Jeudy as a possible trade target. Jeudy’s role has become smaller as the rookies in Cleveland have stepped up as the Browns are 3-1 and in first place, so a move to Kansas City could give him a bigger opportunity and help both teams (Cleveland is always looking for draft capital).
“Jeudy is being “squeezed out” of the offense by promising rookies KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, who have quickly emerged as go-to targets. While Jeudy did play a role in Cleveland’s latest win, he’s caught just five of eight targets for 62 yards on the season. A 1,200-yard receiver and a Pro Bowler in 2024, Jeudy should interest receiver-needy teams, as should his 2026 base salary of $1.5 million.”
Then there’s another intriguing first round pick… Arizona Cardinals wideout Marvin Harrison Jr.. He has not lived up to his high draft status and seems a good bet to be traded soon, per multiple reports.
