
Arsenal kicked off its Preseason American tour with an easy 5-0 victory against the MLS All-star game Wednesday Night in Washington D.C. Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard scored goals earlier in the first half to give their team a 2-0 lead. Then right after half-time Jorginho converted a penalty kick on the 47th minute of the match to give his team Arsenal a 3-0 lead. Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz added late goals late in the match as Arsenal gave the MLS All-Stars’ worst defeat in this format of the annual game.
Arsenal who are preparing for their 2022-23 English Premier League, remained perfect in the event after winning 2-1 in the 2016 edition that was played in San Jose. The MLS All-Stars that was coach England’s Legendary Soccer player and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, were badly out played throughout much of the match give Arsenal outshooting them 16-7 overall and 5-1 in efforts on target. It was the first time the Major League Soccer All-Stars had played a European club team in the game since 2019, after the 2021 and 2022 events were contested against a team of all-stars from Mexico’s Liga MX. The 2024 MLS All-Star game will be played in Columbus Ohio with the team to be announced early next season.
