City SC are one game away of winning the Western Conference and getting home field advantage in the postseason after coming from behind to defeat Minnesota United 2-1, Saturday night. The United had won its last three matches against expansion teams, including a 1-0 defeat against City SC on April 1 and it looked like the streak would continue with they scored first on a penalty kick three minutes into the second half. Teemu Pukki convert on a penalty kick for Minnesota United to them a 1-0 lead.
But on the 58th minute of the match Joao Klauss, who entered the match as a substitute in the 58th minute, tied the game when he headed in a cross from Jake Newinski into the back of the net for his eighth goal of the season. Then Njabulo Blom shocked the home fans in Minnesota when he scored the go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute to give the City SC a 2-1. Roman Bürki notched four saves for St. Louis City while his opponent Dayne St. Clair also stopped four shots for Minnesota United. Despite clinching the playoff against LAFC with a draw last Wednesday, it was the team’s first victory of the month. Their last victory was on August 30th in a 2-1 triumph over FC Dallas. A victory against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday Night at CityPark in St. Louis will clinch the team’s Western Conference title and home-field advantage.
