Elias Williams, a blue-chip defensive lineman, took to social media to announce that he’s sticking with the Tigers over Alabama, Tennessee, USC and Florida State.
“I want to thank Alabama, Tennessee, USC, and Florida State for recruiting me. After talking with my family and through prayer. I am shutting my recruitment down! FULLY committed to the Zou!,” Williams said via X.
A standout lineman from Hudson (Florida), Williams is listed as measuring 6-4, 270 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite ratings, Williams is rated 4-stars, good enough for the No. 50 defensive lineman. He’s also No. 55 recruit in the state of Florida and No. 430 prospect overall in the Class of 2024.
Williams committed to Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwitz’s program back on Sept. 1. In college football recruiting, though, landing a verbal commitment is only half the battle; incoming players can change their minds up until officially signing with the school. The next opportunity is December’s Early Signing Period.
Mizzou is currently in the midst of their best season since 2014 and on their way to either the Cotton, Fiesta, Peach, or Orange Bowl.
