Fresh off of his fourth Super Bowl win of his illustrious career, Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has signed a contract extension.

“Spags” has more rings than any other offensive or defensive Coordinator in NFL history, combining his three in Kansas City with the uncanny showing in 2007’s Super Bowl XLII when he helped the New York Giants’ defense contain the undefeated New England Patriots en route to one of the biggest upsets in sports history.

Spagnuolo is the 1st coordinator to win 4 Super Bowls all as a DC. Despite that, he’s considered one of the most underrated coaches in the NFL, and many feel he should be getting more head coaching opportunities.

During Opening Night for Super Bowl LVIII, defensive tackle Chris Jones weighed in on Spagnuolo not being considered for open head coaching jobs during the recent hiring cycle:”Yeah, it was very surprising that literally he wasn’t interviewed for any head coaching vacancies,” Jones said. “I think he still is not getting the respect he deserves around this league with the success he’s had, not only as a defensive coordinator. You look at his resume, he’s the only defensive coordinator to win two Super Bowls with two different teams. As long as we keep him, we’ll continue winning, man.”
