Darius Robinson is now an Arizona Cardinal.
Robinson (6-5, 285) produced 14.0 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks during a breakout final season at Missouri. According to PFF, Robinson had 42 pressures, a 17.0 percent pass-rush win rate and a near elite run defense grade. He played mostly on the edge in 2023 after spending most of his time inside during the previous two seasons.
Robinson is a great run-stuffer, especially in a four-man defensive front. But his disruptive ability does paint the picture of a versatile player who could possibly play outside on some downs and move inside to rush the passer in passing situations.
“Right out of the gate, Robinson’s physical attributes should give him a potential advantage in head-to-head matchups. He has jarring power in his hands and a twitchy upper body to get rid of blockers quickly. His arm length is a weapon at the point of attack,” wrote NFL.com‘s Lance Zierlein on Robinson.
“His play can lack control and awareness at times, but the good outweighs the bad. He’s a good athlete, but his pass rush is predictable. He lacks potent moves and counters as an edge rusher, leaning heavily on force. Robinson’s power and motor increase the chances he becomes a good starting base end who reduces inside on third downs.”
It’s a big move by the new regime in Arizona as the Cardinals look to rebuild for the future.
