It’s been a season full of more ups than downs so far for St. Louis CITY SC, but Saturday night brought a big up.
St. Louis CITY SC earned a 3-1 win after a strong performance against New England Revolution on Saturday night at Energizer Park. Chris Durkin broke the 1-1 tie in the 48th minute +3 with a tough right footed shot from the center of the box to the lower left central zone that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Marcel Hartel scored in the 83rd minute with a right footed shot from the left half-space outside the box to the lower right central zone to seal the win and thwart any comeback chances.
Last night’s win was CITY SC’s first of the season and their seventh all-time home victory against an Eastern Conference opponent. St. Louis also improved their home record against Eastern Conference teams to 7-2-3 with a plus 14 goal difference.
Simon Becher scored his first goal of the season and 13th in his MLS career, while Chris Durkin recorded his first goal of the season and his second with CITY SC.
St. Louis will return to action after the international break with a first-ever visit to NYCFC on Saturday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
