Renegade Quarterback Austin Reed continues to set the United Football League on fire with his impressive performance as the Dallas Renegades defeated the St. Louis Battlehawks 31-15. Reed completed 22 passes for 240 yards and four touchdowns, three of them to receiver Tyler Vaughns, who caught a game-high 11 passes for 146 yards. Dallas’ offense got things started on its opening drive with a 68-yard 5-play touchdown to give them a 6-0 lead. Renegade Colton Theaker extended his team’s lead by kicking a 48-yard field goal, to go up 9-0.
Meanwhile, the Battlehawks’ offense struggled. Quarterback Brandon Silvers threw a pair of interceptions and one touchdown, completing 56.4 percent of his passes. The team did make the game interesting in the fourth quarter as Tight end Tyler Neville, who scored the only touchdown in the Battlehawks Week 1 victory over the DC Defenders, delivered again against the Renegades, catching a short pass and diving into the end zone for a ten-yard score. On the three-point conversion, Butler caught the pass from Silvers, making it a 24-15 game with seven minutes remaining. However, the Renegades put the game out of reach as Quarterback Austin Reed found Tyler Vaughns for his third touchdown of the game, putting the Renegades up 31-15 and sealing the win. The Battlehawks fell to 1-1 on the season, and they face the Birmingham Stallions on Sunday, April 12, at The Dome at America’s Center.
