The Kansas City Chiefs are in an interesting situation.
For the first time since 2017, they have a top 10 pick in the NFL draft. With that comes a plethora of options of which they can use that pick. Especially now that they have the 29th pick as well.
And one of the most intriguing names coming up is wife receiver Jordan Tyson.
When he is 100%, Tyson is far and away one of the best receivers in this draft. Maybe even better than Carnell Tate.
Peter Schrager writes: “With a top-10 pick for the first time since 2017 — when the Chiefs took some guy named Patrick Mahomes — Kansas City can go in a variety of directions here. Cornerback and edge rusher are certainly options. I still think finding offensive playmakers is a major priority, though, especially with Mahomes coming off the ACL injury. Tyson pops more than any other receiver in this draft class; he just needs to stay healthy.”
Tyson began his career at Colorado before playing the final couple of seasons at Arizona State. In 2024, he caught 75 passes for 1,101 yards with 10 touchdowns in his best collegiate season.
In 2025, he played in just nine games due to injuries, but he still caught 61 passes for 711 yards with eight touchdowns.
Kansas City could go in several directions at #9, but adding another offensive playmaker makes a lot of sense, especially with Patrick Mahomes coming off the ACL injury.
The Chiefs have relied heavily on Travis Kelce to be their primary pass catcher, but with him likely heading into the last year of his NFL career, general manager Brett Veach knows he has to act fast to fix the Chiefs’ wide receiver issues…. and fast.
Tyson stands out as one of the most explosive receivers in this draft class, and the 2026 class is strong at receiver, as the depth of talent extends from top to bottom, and could give the Chiefs another dangerous weapon in the passing game. If Kansas City wants to keep building around Mahomes, this match fits perfectly.
