The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Washington Nationals 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon in Washington, DC and took 2 of 3. Michael McGreevy (1-1) pitched 6 innings allowing 4 hits with 1 run and 1 strikeout. McGreevy also pitched his 2nd quality start this season (overall the Cardinals 3rd).

Jordan Walker hit his 5th home run. Alec Burleson had 3 hits with a run, 3 RBI’s (10) and a walk. Yohel Pozo got a 2 run RBI base hit in the top 9th to make it 6-1 Cardinals.

Relievers Matt Svanson (1) and Justin Bruihl (1) both picked-up holds. The Cardinals are now 7-5 on the season.

The Cardinals return home to face the Boston Red Sox for a three-game series (Friday-Sunday).

The starting pitching matchups are scheduled to be:

Connelley Early (0-0), 2.89 ERA, 9.1 innings, 10 strikeouts, 6 walks, and a whip of 1.50 vs Dustin May (0-2), 15.95 ERA, 7.1 innings, 7 strikeouts, 3 walks, and a whip of 2.73.

Ranger Suarez (0-1), 8.64 ERA, 8.1 innings, 5 strikeouts, 3 walks, and a whip of 1.92 vs Kyle Leahy (1-1), 5.40 ERA, 10 innings, 5 strikeouts, 5 walks, and a whip of 1.80.

Brayan Bello (0-1), 9.00 ERA, 8 innings, 7 strikeouts, 7 walks, and a whip of 2.50 vs Andre Pallante (1-0), 1.80 ERA, 10 innings, 5 strikeouts, 7 walks, and a whip of 1.30.
