For the second week in a row, City SC picked up a point on the road with a 1-1 draw against FC Dallas Saturday Night. The two teams were scoreless throughout the first half. St. Louis’ Marcel Hartel had two chances himself early on in the first half. He dribbled the ball down to the end line in the third minute and sent it across the goal mouth, but there was nobody home to tap it in. Hartel had another chance in the 21st minute, when he took the ball down the left side into the box and tried to beat goalie Michael Collodi to the near post, but Dallas’, he turned it aside. FC Dallas’ Louicius Deedson scored in the 52nd minute of the second half to put his team up 1-0.
Then, in the 61st minute, Timo Baumgartl scored with the assist from Daniel Edelman to tie the game 1-1. It was Baumgartl’s first career goal with the team. The draw extended St. Louis’ unbeaten streak to three matches and marked the first time the team earned a point in a game, and the first time FC Dallas allowed a goal against City SC at Toyota Stadium. City will begin its U.S. Open Cup tournament this Wednesday Night at Energizer Park at 7 p.m. against USL Championship team FC Tulsa.
City will then travel to the Northwest in Seattle to take on the Seattle Sounders in MLS regular season play next Saturday, April 18, with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. CT.
