The Cardinals beat the Cubs 3-2 in extra innings at Busch Stadium on Wednesday night. The Cubs took a 2-0 lead on a two-run home run from Pete-Crow Armstrong in the top of the 10th inning.

In the bottom of the 10th, the Cardinals loaded the bases. Jordan Walker reached on a fielder’s choice, which scored Nathan Church making it a 2-1 game. Ivan Herrea then hit a game winning two-run double, which scored JJ Wetherholt and Walker and gave the Cardinals a 3-2 win.

In extra innings, the Cardinals improve to 8-4.

Luis Gastelum (2-1) picked up the win.

The Cardinals are now 54-54.

Game 4 is on Thursday afternoon at 1:15 pm.

The scheduled starting pitchers are Javier Assad (6-1), 3.86 ERA, 65.2 innings, 42 strikeouts, 16 walks, and a whip of 1.12 vs Andre Pallante (11-6), 3.77 ERA, 112.1 innings, 83 strikeouts, 32 walks, and a whip of 1.21.
