Number one yet again!
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was revealed Monday night as the best player in the NFL as voted on by his peers in NFL Network’s annual countdown of the league’s top 100 players.
This is the second time that Mahomes — who is coming off his second Super Bowl win in four seasons — has been named the NFL’s top player.
Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce rounded out the top five.
Here’s a look at the top 10:
- Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs
- Justin Jefferson, WR, Minnesota Vikings
- Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
- Nick Bosa, DE, San Francisco 49ers
- Travis Kelce, TE, Kansas City Chiefs
- Joe Burrow, QB, Cincinnati Bengals
- Tyreek Hill, WR, Miami Dolphins
- Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills
- Micah Parsons, LB, Dallas Cowboys
- Chris Jones, DT, Kansas City Chiefs
The 27-year-old Mahomes is coming off arguably the best season of his career in 2022, having completed 67.1 percent of his passes for 5,250 yards and 41 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 358 yards and four scores.
The Kansas City Chiefs finished first in the AFC West for the seventh consecutive season and won their second Super Bowl title in the past four years. He then went on to win his second MVP award, earn an All-Pro selection and finish second in Offensive Player of the Year voting.
The Chiefs have faced quite the offensive shakeup this past off-season, but heading into 2023, expectations for the defending champions, and their elite quarterback, are still sky high. Especially when one of the best coaches in football, Andy Reid, is still going strong, leading the way.
