Is the Heisman Trophy really for the most outstanding player, or is it just the best quarterback on a top team?
Because if it’s truly about dominance, consistency, and carrying a team week after week… then Missouri star RB Ahmad Hardy absolutely deserves to be in New York.
And yes—this is a Heisman snub.
⭐ The Resume: Heisman-Level, No Debate
Ahmad Hardy isn’t just having a good year.
He’s having the kind of season that usually makes you a Heisman lock:
- 1,560 rushing yards (2nd in the nation)
- 16 rushing touchdowns
- 6.5 yards per carry
- SEC rushing leader
He did all this in the toughest defensive conference in college football while Missouri battled injuries and inconsistencies around him. Every team knew what was coming—and they still couldn’t stop him.
That’s not good.
That’s not great.
That’s Heisman-worthy.
🏆 Meanwhile… The Heisman Race Feels Empty
Here’s the wild stat nobody wants to talk about:
👉 Not one of the top 5 passing leaders in the country is a Heisman finalist.
Yet every 3 of the 4 finalists are quarterbacks.
This year’s Heisman field isn’t historic. It isn’t loaded. It isn’t even particularly impressive. And that’s exactly why Hardy’s absence stands out even more.
When no QB is separating from the pack, a running back with elite production should break through. Hardy did everything needed to earn that spot. Instead, its 3 qb’s with decent statistical seasons but by no means great, and a rb with a good season, but has 3 other rb’s ahead of him statistically.
🐯 Hardy Is Missouri’s Offense
Missouri doesn’t finish this season ranked without him.
They don’t win close games without him.
They don’t survive the SEC grind without him.
He was the engine.
He was the identity.
He was the reason Mizzou mattered every Saturday.
If the Heisman is about value + dominance, Hardy checks every box.
🔥 Call It What It Is: A Heisman Miss
Ahmad Hardy is a Doak Walker finalist—that’s deserved.
But his production, his impact, and his dominance against top SEC defenses should’ve earned him a ticket to New York.
In a year where the Heisman race is as bland as it’s been in a decade, Hardy brought something the finalists didn’t:
Consistency. Production. Value. Dominance.
He didn’t just deserve recognition.
He deserved a seat on the Heisman stage.
