As they get ready for their Cotton Bowl matchup against Ohio State, Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz has been wondering how… and who… will fill the shows of All-American running back Cody Schrader.
Well it looks like the answer is heading their way.
Marcus Carroll, the star running back from Georgia State University and a top 10 running back in the nation, announced that he is committing to Mizzou.
A first-team All-Sun Belt selection, he ranked No. 6 in NCAA this year with 1,350 rushing yards on 274 carries, a 4.92 YPC average. He is viewed as one of the top backs in the portal. In an interesting twist, Carroll joined Schrader on the Doak Walker Award semi-finalist list in 2023.
Carroll had a memorable season in his own right. The graduate transfer more than doubled his career high in total yards while finding the end zone more times than he had in his first three years combined. By 247 Sports’ Transfer Portal rankings,
“The culture at Missouri is amazing from the players to the coaches to the overall support from the community,” Carroll told On3 Sports. “Playing in the SEC has a big impact on this as well. Not only will it be on a top-tier team competing for a championship but I’ll also be able to showcase my talents against what I think is one of the most competitive conferences in college football right now week-to-week.”
He was a four-star transfer, the No. 56 overall player and the fourth-best running back available.
